Value of the Benjamin Britten 50 pence coin 2013

Despite its distinctive design, this is not considered a particularly 50p rare coin, as several million examples were released into circulation. It remains relatively easy to find today, although coins preserved in excellent condition can be more appealing to collectors.

The table below gives the value of the Blow Bugle Blow 2013 50 pence for each numismatic grade. The Benjamin Britten 50p coin was issued in 2013 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Benjamin Britten, who was born on 22 November 1913. One of Britain’s most celebrated composers of the 20th century, Britten became internationally renowned for his operas, orchestral works and vocal compositions.

The reverse pays tribute to his musical legacy through words arranged across musical staves. It features the phrase “BLOW BUGLE BLOW”, taken from Alfred Tennyson’s poem “The Princess” and set to music by Britten in his Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings, alongside the composer’s name.

Is the 50p coin Benjamin Britten part of a series?

No. This issue was created specifically to commemorate the centenary of the composer’s birth and does not belong to a wider series. Its theme and design were therefore unique to this particular anniversary.

You can find more individually issued commemorative coins in the table below. Each celebrates its own event, anniversary or historical figure, allowing you to explore and compare their stories and collector values.
